At Boston Industrial Solutions, Inc., we make different printing inks applied to HDPE for inkjet, pad, and screen-printing technologies.
Petroleum is the source of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), a thermoplastic polymer with exceptional tensile strength, a high strength-to-density ratio, high impact resistance, and a melting point.
HDPE has low surface energy. For this reason, it is important to pre-treat the material. Pre-treatment options include mechanical (e.g., flame-treatment) or chemical (e.g., PP primer). The Natron BX Series pad printing ink for HDPE is the best. Add 5% P53 adhesion promoter to the ink, and it will help the ink bond to HDPE.
With pre-treatment options, you can also use the EK Series, TP Series, or MG Series.
Like pad printing inks, the BX with a slow solvent makes an excellent screen-printing ink for HDPE. You will need to add the Natron P53 primer to activate the ink to bond to this material. For pre-treatment, use EK or MG Series screen printing ink.
There are several inks from Boston Industrial Solutions that are suitable for printing on HDPE.
