INK FOR MEDICAL GRADE SILICONE APPLICATIONS

The Natron SE-F Series is a 2-component medical-grade silicone ink formulated for marking silicone parts that operate in demanding healthcare and advanced science applications. These medical grade silicone inks meet and exceed the quality standards set by the healthcare, space, and electronics industries. To formulate the SE-F Series we use the highest-purity materials and standards possible. We document each and every raw material from start to finish. This makes it possible to trace every batch produced. Additionally, we produce certificate of compliance for each batch.

Once cured, these non-corrosive, non-toxic silicone inks retain their color and physical properties at low and elevated temperature environments. These inks are also stable and stick well to silicone rubber substrates for long-term use in medical devices and healthcare surfaces.

SE-F Series is formulated for pad printing, silk screen marking, and spray coating on silicone components and devices. Examples of these applications include silicone tubing, calendar sheeting, LSR-molded medical parts, etc. Like all Natron printing inks, the SE-F is also designed with ease of use and sustainability in mind. This ink uses less material during application due to its high opacity and lasts longer than any other ink on the market today due to the purity of the materials used.

Medical-grade silicone ink features

Our Natron SE-F ink line has twenty-two high-opacity colors, double any other medical ink available in the market today. In addition, we offer any custom color matching you can think of using all major color matching systems and standards in the world, including AMS-STD-595.

To dry this ink, use heat. This feature makes sure the ink bonds to the substrate, giving it a long service life.

This silicone ink has medical Class VI certification and meets the requirements of the GLP Class VI Test (USP). It also meets the current FDA 21 CFR, Part 58 GLP technical requirements.

Features
Medical Grade Class VI Certified

This silicone ink has medical Class VI certification and meets the requirements of the GLP Class VI Test (USP). It also meets the current FDA 21 CFR, Part 58 GLP technical requirements. This enables you to easily mark silicone components that operate under demanding conditions.

HD prints

The nontoxic, triple-milled, fade-resistant pigmentation delivers stunning HD prints.

Strong adhesion

The Natron SE-F Series of inks stick well to silicone rubber for long-lasting stability.

Abrasion resistance

These medical grade silicone inks have abrasion and chemical resistance. Once printed on silicone, they are permanent—they become part of the silicone rubber.

For demanding healthcare, space, and electronics industries

The SE-F Series High-Purity Silicone Inks are for marking silicone surfaces in healthcare and high-tech settings.

Applications

SE-F Series pad printing ink is a 2-component silicone ink for printing on medical and high-tech silicone rubber parts. This inks applied via screen printing, pad printing, or spray coating. Natron SE-F Series silicone ink has very high opacity, gloss, flexibility, and resistance to chemicals and abrasion.

How to Mix SE-F Series silicone ink

The SE-F Series is a 2-component printing ink. A solvent and catalyst are required additives to use this ink. Let us assist by guiding you in the specifics on how to mix the SE-F series inks. Before mixing the ink with the additives, stir it thoroughly. Add the hardener, then stir thoroughly.

Other required supplies: Weigh scale, ink mixing sticks, ink mixing cups, and PPE.

NOTE: The mixing ratio for the Silicone ink (A) and the LG catalyst (B) is the same for pad printing, screen printing, and spray coating. The difference is in the amount of solvent added after the ink and catalyst mixture.

Mixing ratio: 10:1 (10 parts ink : 1 part catalyst ) – The catalyst is 10% of the inks weight.

  • Add 10 parts ink to the mixing cup. Note the weight. Add 1 part ink; e.g., if you want to mix 20 grams of ink, you add 2 grams of catalyst.
  • Mix these two component thoroughly.
  • Add solvent: For pad printing (5 – 60%) of the inks weight. For screen printing, (0 – 10%) of the inks weight, for spray coating (300 – 500%) of the inks weight.

Keep in mind that the mixture of ink, hardener, and solvent is chemically reactive and must be used within 10 – 14 hours.

Printing Parameters: Screen printing

For screen printing, use any of the commonly available polyester meshes and solvent-resistant emulsions. Use 200–230 mesh (mesh per inch)-count screens for the highest opacity and on dark substrates. Use a mesh count of 255–305 for fine details and light backgrounds.

Printing Parameters: Pad printing

  • Use any commercially available clichés that are made of ceramic, photopolymer, laser, or steel plates. For all standard prints, the recommended cliché depth is 20μm.
  • Printing pads
Use silicone printing pads. The ink works regardless of the hardness (durometer) of the pad.
  • Printing machines
The Natron SE-F Series is suitable for both closed-cup and open-ink-well machines. Use the appropriate thinner for the correct type of machine.

Labeling and safety information

Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for the silicone ink SE-F Series and its auxiliaries are available in accordance with EU and US regulations, providing comprehensive information on all critical safety data.

SE-F Series silicone ink and the Environment

The SE-F Series is classified as non-toxic, made with fade resistant, heavy metal-free pigments. Additionally, it is eco-sustainable meaning, it does not contain:

  • Alogens
  • Aromatic hydrocarbons
  • Bisphenol A (BPA)
  • Formaldehyde
  • Latex
  • PAH
  • Phthalates
  • Animal origin ingredients
  • Azo dyes
  • Cyclohexanone
  • G-B ester
  • Melamine
  • Persistent organic pollutants

Frequently Asked Questions

Medical-grade ink used for printing or marking medical devices should meet and comply with the stringent safety standards set by the FDA. The United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) 30, NF 25 and 2007 standard, also known as USP medical Class VI certification, is used to show compliance with stringent FDA rules for products that come in contact with the human body. This standard includes a full range of tests, procedures, and industry best practices for all phases of pharmaceutical and medical device development and manufacturing.
