Whether you are new to the industry or an expert, we make custom tooling for pad printing, screen printing, and inkjet printing applications. We serve a wide range of industries including medical, toy, plastics/injection molding, automotive, medical devices, industrial and more. Learn more about pad printing tooling.
Inkjet tooling
Tooling, known as part fixtures, is one of the most critical items to having a successful print. The part holds the part correctly and prevents it from moving. Additionally, tooling for inkjet printing aligns the part in the appropriate position for printing. Fixtures also play another role of making sure that the parts are printed the same from one part to the next—enables repeatability. Examples of fixtures include:
Drop through: These are used with conveyor-belt-equipped flatbed inkjet printers. At the end of print, the fixture raises up and allows the parts to move to the end of the belt for packaging.
Travelling: This type of fixture is the most common in the flatbed inkjet printing world. This type of fixture travels (moves along) with the parts as the machine prints. Simply, the parts are loaded onto the fixture and they both (part and fixture) move along as the printing gets done.
Base cone and nose chuck printing tooling: These types of tooling are used with cylindrical inkjet printing machines such as the Volta Gyra. These types of fixtures hold cylindrical and tapers in place when printing with rotary UV inkjet printers. These are like the fixtures used with screen printing machines. Base cone and nose chuck function is to hold the part securely—prevent the part from moving around while spinning during printing.
Pad printing custom tooling
The pad printing technology is used to print on many 3D odd, shaped parts. For this reason, different parts require molded unique fixtures to fit the parts. These fixtures hold the parts securely, which allow for perfect image transfer from the plate to the part. Whether you are using silicone inks to print on a flexible silicone part, or an ink for pad printing on plastic parts, fixtures hold your part in place. Lastly, these custom tooling allows the part to stay stationary as the pads presses on the part.
At Boston Industrial Solutions, Inc., we understand that each pad printing product and equipment is unique. Whether you are printing with a semi-automatic machine or fully automated equipment, we can make the right fixture for you.
Screen printing tooling
There are flatbed and cylindrical screen-printing machines. For most cylindrical screen-printing machines, a nose chuck or base cone like hose for cylindrical digital printing machines are used. For flatbed printing machines, we make custom fixtures. Learn more about the S150 screen printing machines for tagless printing.
