Silicone

Silicon is a “inorganic synthetic polymer” whose main chain is composed of polysiloxane, which is the repetition of silicon(Si) and oxygen(O) atoms. The main chain of most organic synthetic polymers is composed of repeating carbon (C) atoms (1,2).

As the side chain of silicone molecules, it is possible to incorporate organic units, which may contribute a variety of features and generate advantageous hybrid materials.

Silicon is mostly generated from silica stone (SiO2), water, and methanol obtained from natural gas. Silicone is manufactured from these ingredients via complicated chemical processes. About sixty percent of the ingredients of the most frequently manufactured polydimethylsiloxane are sourced from silica and water.

Why do we use it?

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
