What is tagless printing?

Tagless printing is the process on imprinting onto a textile or garment hence getting rid of the tag.

Tagless is defined as without a tag or tags.

Tagless garments are everywhere. Chances are one of your clothes is tagless – meaning that it does not have a tag. However, you may not know how or the process used to imprint your clothes.

The t-shirt and clothing industry, have seen a growing demand for tagless garments due to the appeal of garments without a tag. Tagless garments are fashionable and more comfortable than garments with tags.

In less than 10 years, tagless labeling have begun spreading everywhere-from t-shirt neck labels to sweatshirts, underwear, outerwear, sportswear, active-wear, uniforms, inner-wear, and more.

Tagless printing was first applied using a heat transfer, a method now considered obsolete for neck labels. Next came pad printing and screen printing tag-free labels. All these technologies have their pros and cons. However, both screen and pad printed labels out last heat transfer in durability, texture quality, and expense.

Today, pad printing is the preferred method to apply tagless labels. The main reason is cost. Most fortune 500 companies have continued to adopt this method of printing. However, screen printing also makes a strong and more compelling case.
